A History of GodThe 4,000 Year Quest of
Judaism, Christianity and Islam
In this stunningly intelligent book, Karen Armstrong, one of
Britain's foremost commentators on religious affairs, traces the history
of how men and women have perceived and experienced God, from the time
of Abraham to the present.
From classical philosophy and medieval mysticism to the Reformation,
the Enlightenment, and the modern age of skepticism, Karen Armstrong
performs the near miracle of distilling the intellectual history of
monotheism into one superbly readable volume, destined to take its place
as a classic.

Karen was born in Great Britain and lives there today. In her youth she
became a nun at the Society of the Holy Child Jesus and was soon to St.
Anne's College in Oxford to study English.
She tried to get a doctorate at London University but soon found it
rejected and she chose to drop out because of ill health, which she
found later to be brought on by epilepsy.
Karen became a teacher for a girls school but soon her illness and
missing too many days as a teacher, she was finally laid off.
Soon after this she was commissioned by one of Britain's television
stations to write a documentary on the life of St. Paul. While making a
documentary in Jerusalem she soon found herself discouraged with the
world's religions.
This would influence her life greatly in the future.
Karen was a key adviser when Bill Moyers
was creating a PBS series on religion and even addressed members of
Congress.
What a fascinating woman and a great inspiration to others.
