Long Walk to Freedom
The Autobiography of Nelson Mandela
From a man who was imprisoned for over 27 years on Robben Island in
South Africa to the president of the same country. How do you describe a
man like Nelson Mandela, Mohandis Gandhi
and Martin Luther King Jr..
This man sacrificed a lot of his personal life to create life lasting
change throughout the world. This book gives way to his childhood in
Africa and the way most black Africans were treated. If you've never had
an education in how one race can treat another race of people this would
be a great place to start. |

Nelson was born on July 18, 1918
Nelson's mother and father both died when he was pretty young.
His great grandfather was King of the Thembu people who became subject
to British colonial rule in the 1800s. He was born into a royal dynasty
that seems to get pretty complicated as far as different levels of
royalty go and was hard for me to interpret .
His real name was Rolihlahla Mandela and was later changed to Nelson by
one of his teachers.
At age 16 he entered into a boarding school and received a junior degree
in two years where it normally took three.
Soon after graduating from school he went to work for a man named Walter
Sisulu who is a local realtor. While working for him he received a
bachelor of arts degree at the University of South Africa through a
correspondence course.
After which he attended the University of Witwatersrand to receive a law
degree.
Like most great man I could be here all day giving you a biography on
Nelson Mandela but I have to stop somewhere. For more information use
some of the popular search engines or go to Wikipedia.
