Pushing to the Front or, Success Under Difficulties.
A simple paragraph from the book.
History furnishes thousands of examples of men who have seized
occasions to accomplish results deemed impossible by those less
resolute. Prompt decision and whole souled action sweep the world
before them.
Don't wait for extraordinary opportunities. Seize common occasions
and make them great.
This book was written in 1894 and gives you a pretty good idea how
long the new thought movement has been around.

Morrison was born in Thorton Gore, New Hampshire. This father name was
Lewis and his mother's name was Martha. His mother died when he was
three years old leaving him and his two sisters. Life didn't seem to be
working too well for Orison when he was seven and his father died.
Martin went to live with other family members and was soon working to
earn his keep. One of the early influences on his life was Samuel Smiles
and his book Self Help which he founded an attic.
Samuel was largely influenced by Oliver Wendell Holmes as well as
Ralph Waldo Emerson. These men
were part of the new thought movement that was starting to pick up steam
in America.
Orison died at the age of 74 |
