| I have not read this book yet but I had it for
a while and I remember looking at the cover of the book and wondering
what was going through their minds as they crossed some of the finish
lines. Some of the events they entered or long and grueling and how Dick
made it through is unbelievable all by itself.
Sometimes a handicap to someone else becomes a learning experience and
life changing lesson that we will never forget. While reading one of the
reviews about this book a mother mentions her struggles with her child
and she is able to relate to Dick and Jan's roller coaster ride of life.
It's hard to imagine how someone that is perfectly healthy can live a
life of complete misery at the same time someone with a severe or mild
handicap seems to accept their fate and do the best they can with what
they got.
